The Friends of the Library are an advocacy and fundraising group for the Bowen Island Library who fund a variety of programs and purchases for the library.
The Friends primary source of fundraising is their annual book sale. This year (2009) the Friends annual sale is taking place in May rather than August. So mark your calendars for the May long weekend - May 16 and 17 - and look for the sale in a new location at the Bowen Island Community School.
This event takes months of planning and preparation each year by a multitude of volunteer "friends". Donations for the annual booksale are welcome and can be dropped off at the library during regular open hours.
The Friends also operate a year-round "Mini Bookstore" in the foyer of the library, raising additional funds for the library and providing library visitors with "like new" books to purchase.
